Château de Lacoste

Chateau

The pinnacle of Lacoste, the chateau de Lacoste was once the palace of the Marquis de Sade. Now the crumbling castle is owned by Pierre Cardin and overlooking the idyllic Provence valley, which makes for an excellent tourist destination. Every year the mountain town hosts a festival on All Hallow's Eve with a lantern release from the peak to close the night's festivities. Our team was tasked with producing a projection mapping show for the Chateau's facade that followed the year's theme: Marionettes.

Projection File:

(File is optimised for projection and not for website viewing)

Process:

Given less than a week from ideation to execution for what was everyone's biggest scale piece yet, (about 60ft x 20ft) not to mention still learning the ins-and-outs of software and the art of projection, this project was an exhilarating challenge.

Of course, being a halloween exhibition I absolutely had to take a spooky approach, with references to theatre and marionettes in a macabre fashion!

With the limited time available I knew the only option was to use maya...

I modeled, rigged, lit and textured a doll and rendered limited animation, in an effort to evoke visions of stop motion as well as reference american horror story intro motion graphics styles.
